I wondered how long it would take for this man to make a sniveling statement…well, here it is:

Washington, DC, Jun 14 – U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington) released the following statement on the viral video which appeared on the internet today:

“I have seen the video posted on several blogs. I deeply and profoundly regret my reaction, and I apologize to all involved. Throughout my many years of service to the people of North Carolina, I have always tried to treat people from all viewpoints with respect. No matter how intrusive and partisan our politics can become, this does not justify a poor response. I have and I will always work to promote a civil public discourse.”

We should, however, not forget that this man, Bob Etheridge, probably committed a number of crimes here. At the very least it seems obvious that the student in question was assaulted by Bob. Charges should be brought against the Congressman and he should have to pay whatever price that entails.

Update: Libs think its’ no big deal
Alexandra Petri from the Washington Post is actually suggesting that the boy was asking for it, that he deserved to be assaulted by Etheridge. She claims it’s no big deal since “members of Congress have been assaulting people for over a hundred years”.

I find it disturbing that her only reaction to this is a reference to some obscure incident in 1856 and her dismissive, light hearted recounting of Etheridge batting at the camera. The Congressman ASSAULTED the boy! He grabbed his arm, held him, wouldn’t let go, grabbed him around his neck, pulled him close…he man-handled the kid!

While peace loving Americans who attend Tea Parties are labeled as violent insurrectionists by the left, a Democrat Congressman is brutalizing a young boy in the streets of DC.

And then Alexandra Petri has the nerve to blame the kid? She believes young journalists whose techniques lack subtlety somehow have this coming. Annoying college students deserve this? Besides, when have journalists ever been subtle, no matter what their age? Oh yeah, Helen Thomas was real subtle when she told the Jews to go home to Poland and Germany!

If this had been a Republican instead, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi would be convening hearings as we speak to investigate the Congressman’s outrageous, nay, criminal behavior.

Assault is assault is assault, no matter who the perpetrator is!

Shame on you, Alexandra!
