Is this country upside down? Since when are students sent home for wearing the American flag on their clothing? Since when is it considered insensitive to do so? It is astounding that a school officials would send 4 students home (unexcused absence) for wearing the American flag, as was the case at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, CA on May 5th.

They were sent home because they wore the clothing on a FOREIGN HOLIDAY! They were sent home because this was considered insensitive of a FOREIGN HOLIDAY! Not only is it NOT a holiday in Mexico, but America helped Mexico defeat the French in the battle commemorated by May 5th. But guests DO NOT get to tell US what we can or cannot wear. This is the United States of America! We will wear our national colors ANY TIME WE LIKE! Our decision to wear clothing displaying the American flag is NOT dependent on what foreign pseudo-holiday it may be at any given time.

There are foreigners in this country from EVERYWHERE in the world. They ALL have their own holidays. Are we supposed to avoid wearing our American flag t-shirts on ALL of those holidays? This is absurd, ridiculous, asinine, moronic, pathetic, and really quite stupid!

What entitles Mexicans on their holiday to dictate what Americans do or don’t do (a holiday, by the way, which marks one victorious battle in a lost war…congratulations)? Go ahead, be proud of being Mexican, wave your flag, we won’t stop you. But show the rest of us the same respect and count your blessings. You are not entitled to anything more than the rest of us.

But we should not be surprised, especially with the current administration and our regime leader, Barry Obama, which maligns and vilifies America while heaping praise on anything foreign. It’s shameful, disgraceful, disrespectful and quite sad.

Go ahead America, wear our colors with pride!
