You can’t say that! That’s heartless! Even Cardinal Mahony says you’re a Nazi!

I have one thing to say about that: Your celibacy laws, Roger, are damaging people. Immigration laws are not. If you let your priests get a little action now and then, maybe they wouldn’t be buggering little boys and scarring them for life!

The key word here is “ILLEGAL” immigration! I would venture to say that the vast majority of Americans would have no problems with immigrants who go through the legal channels to come here, actually become a part of our society, be productive, pay their taxes. Only law breakers slip across the border in the dead of night. In fact, my wife came to the United States from another country. She has a green card, is a legal resident and, you won’t believe it, pays her taxes. Not only that, but she speaks English better than most Americans. And guess what, the government actually makes sure that we (my wife and I) comply with all requirements to make sure she continues to abide by the immigration laws…the ones we ALREADY have. She may otherwise face…..yes, deportation! And rightly so.

It’s irrelevant where the immigrants come from, it’s not a race or cultural issue. Do it legally, do it right. If you don’t you are BREAKING THE LAW! That’s what illegal means, by the way, for those who do not understand the concept. And if you are here illegally, you should be sent back where you came from. It’s that simple and it’s hardly a unique concept. Try sneaking across the border into Switzerland!

Another problem is that most illegal immigrants are here for a hand out. They think our streets are flowing with milk and honey, where they can just show up and get free money and medical care, and we actually give it to them. If they find a job, they send the money back to their home countries, pay no taxes and milk our state budgets dry. Their contribution is minimal if not absent. But we are part of the problem, the lack of enforcement of our current laws is actually encouraging this behavior.

Many of them do not speak English. Shouldn’t that be the minimum requirement? Isn’t it a reasonable expectation that we should be able to communicate in English in this country? No, in this country you’re a racist if, God forbid, you want someone to speak English. But try going to places like France, even simply as a tourist. If you don’t speak their language, you will most likely get a chilly reception to say the least. Nobody is expecting perfect Oxford English, but make an effort! Maybe if we didn’t print EVERYTHING in EVERY foreign language, there would be some incentive to assimilate.

Aside from our laws being broken, we simply cannot afford it anymore. Arizona and it’s new, tough stance on immigration should serve as an example for the rest of the country. Immigration laws are on the books, enforce them! Call us what you want, it does not matter. Do you think Switzerland cares what you think of their immigration laws? Well, neither should we!
